Polygamy is not allowed in Islam

The fundamentalists so-called Scholars have been reference of the Koran for a period of last one thousand years and more for justifying the taking of four wives at a time and accordingly have been enjoying themselves the pleasures of the company of more than one wife. But what does that particular Injunction of the Koran is quoted below:

“If you fear that you shall be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two, three or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly, then only one or (Captive) that your right hands possess. That will be more suitable to prevent you from doing injustice. (Ref: Koran: 4:3).

The simple explanation of the Injunction is as under:

The Muslims of that age conquered, under the leadership of the Prophet of God, many states one after another. Consequently, many women from other tribes and countries were imprisoned by the Muslims. The parents, the husbands and all close relatives of these women were killed by the Muslims. In the same way many Muslim women also lost parents, husbands and other guardians in the battles. They became orphans and helpless. In the language of the Koran, such women were considered as orphans.

As per traditions of that period, the conquered properties after the winning of the battles were distributed equally among the soldiers & leaders. The orphan women prisoners were also distributed among them equally in the manner. The members, among whom these women were distributed, had the responsibility of feeding and taking care of them at the same time enjoy them sexually. But they were never given the right and the prestige of wives. They were slaves and never had the honor and status of married wives. Because of all these reasons the newly converted Muslims got free, reckless and unlimited opportunities for enjoying women. In apprehension of the complete destruction of social and political values due to such enjoyment of limitless number of women by men, a restriction was imposed and a limit was set under an stringent condition of taking 2, 3, or at best 4 from the above mentioned  orphans and helpless women by giving them the status of wives. By this way an equal status was given to the imprisoned orphans and helpless women and at the same time a control was set in the society on the use of limitless sexual behavior of men folk.

This injunction of having more than one wife at a time is not meant for all. It is a permission under special circumstances, at special situation and at a special time and also only for those who are to take care of the orphans. The objective of this injunction is very noble and liberal. Now, therefore, the non-Muslims will also admit it.

Koran is not something new. It contains the same injunction of all old original religious books, in other words, it is just a repetition of the old injunctions contained in the old scriptures, like Veda, Geeta, Gospel, Torah etc.

How could four marriages be considered as obligatory? This is only ‘Nafal’ in Arabic, means ‘additional’. Four marriages are of course ‘additional’. Therefore, in the future if the Muslims ever fight under the leadership of any Prophet and succeed in imprisoning huge number of women, and acknowledge at the International level, then only the Muslims will have the right to take 2, 3, or 4 wives at a time, otherwise not and no way.

The fundamentalists have misinterpreted the above mentioned simple, neutral and noble injunction for ages and thereby violated the Koran grossly. Therefore, the following consequences accrued by their actions:

1. They have satisfied their illegal lust for sexual pleasure.

1. The right of the first wife to her husband has been violated & destroyed.

1. The chastity of billions of women (additional wives) has been destroyed.

4.   Billions & billions of illegitimate children were given birth and thereby the blood of             the Muslims Communities became polluted in the anti-Koranic process of the          evolution.

No one is supposed to know what type of person Ms. Taslima Nasreen is and how she is in her private life. But her claim to take four husbands at a time by a woman is justified and reasonable. Because, if the mails can have more than one wife at a time by violating the injunctions of the Koran, then why  should the fundamentalists object to the taking of more than one husband at a time? However, if Islamic fanatic now withdraw their illegal claims of taking four wives at a time, then naturally and logically Taslima Nasreen’s claim to take four husbands by a woman will have also no legal bindings. Possibly, she will not claim also.

Another injunction of the Koran regarding the Muslim Marriage may be cited here:

“O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their Dowries and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom God has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the prophet wishes to wed her, this is only for thee, not for the believers at large” (ref: Koran:33-50).

According to the above injunction, daughters of the paternal and maternal uncles and the aunts could be married legally only by the Prophet. But they are illegal for the common people. But the fundamentalists have made misinterpretation of the Koran in their own interests and thereby have made legal for ages, against the teachings of the Koran, the system of marrying the daughters of the paternal and maternal uncles and aunts. Consequently, the children of the cousins, who were to call me under normal circumstances ‘uncle’ call me now ‘father’. That is the child is born of the ‘uncle’, which is considered to be illegal and ignominy in all religions.

Today there is no family in the Muslim World, among whom some one, in two or three generations, have not married cousins. Consequently in due course 80%-90% people among the Muslims are born illegally, or in other words, we are almost all bustards!! The fanatics and the fundamentalists so-called Scholars must give due thoughts to this point. Through the process of birth, compared to all other communities, the community of Muslims today is untouchable and unholy. The really educated and religious persons, though Muslims must accept this truth without protest.

The children are not responsible for this. But when they will come to learn the history of their unholy births, then will the fundamentalists Muslims be able to bear the shock of their common interrogations??

The Koran has announced clearly the legality of being married with Hindus, Buddhists, Jews and Christians. The only exception is with those who share with God. It should be noted that the Hindus do not make share with God as per their religious book The Geeta: Eke Meba Ditioum: There is no god except God (More ref: Sree Geeta Bengali version; by Sree Gagadish chandra Ghose; 6/31, Page 37 & 223)

It has announced also all types of food as legal for all communities, with the exception of Pork, dead animals, fresh blood, wine and any animal killed in any name other than God

“This day (all) things good and pure make lawful unto you. The food of the people of the books is lawful unto you. And yours is lawful unto them. Lawful unto in marriage chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the people of the books revealed before your time-when you give them their due dowries, and desire chastity, not lewdness, not secret intrigues. If any one rejects faith, fruitless in his works, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost everything. (Ref: Koran 5:5).

Therefore, the Young Muslim Society, Bangladesh, declares with all emphasis, in the light of the teachings of the Koran, that:

1. It is illegal for the Muslim man to take more than one wife unless for any special and

Natural reason.

2.   The system of marrying to first Cousins are illegal.

3. Muslims are allowed to marry any non-Muslim with the exception of those who share

with God.

Is there any Muslim Scholar in the world who can accept this challenge in the light of The Koran?

Those who conceal the teachings of the Koran are unbelievers and wrongdoers. The curse of God is upon them. The curse of all believers also are upon them. This has been announced in the Koran itself. Although the fundamentalists know it well, yet for ages they kept it concealed in their self interest, grievousness and due to Community conflicts. The so-called Islamic Scholars because of their poor knowledge, have made wrong and misinterpretations of the verses of the Koran and thereby have created disputes and doubts in the human society. It is because of these people that Taslima Nasreen, Salman Rushdi and even the non-Muslims have the chance to scoff at the Prophet & the Koran. They have lower down the prestige of the Prophet immensely. So, therefore, all the liabilities & responsibilities shall have to be borne by these fundamentalists.
